In a world where tradition often dictates destiny, Dorcus and Elizabeth faced an uncertain future. Growing up in the Maasai community, they were expected to follow the same path as many girls before them—married off at a young age, with their dreams of education and independence quietly extinguished. But these two young women were determined to defy the odds.
Their desire for an education and a better future sparked hope, but it was through the generosity of Swedish students, led by their inspiring teacher Ulrika Halen, that their lives took a life-changing turn. With the support of donations, Dorcus and Elizabeth enrolled in the Community Health and Development program at Imperial College of Medical and Health Sciences in Thika, Kenya.
Now, instead of early marriage, they see a future filled with opportunity and purpose in the medical field. Their journey symbolizes a powerful shift—one where young women break free from harmful traditions, pursue education, and inspire others in their community. Thanks to the continued support of donors, more girls in Narok will have the chance to thrive in school, build brighter futures, and secure decent jobs, breaking the cycle of poverty and inequality for good.
